Loobie’s Story is a story about more than fashion. In founder Laurinda Sutcliffe’s words, it’s “a story about a love for life + a life well-lived.”
And, it’s also a story of cross-border business success.
Laurinda and Brent Sutcliffe started Loobie’s Story in 2009 in the midst of the global financial crisis. Nonetheless, the New Zealand-based women’s fashion company went from strength to strength, thanks in part to their ongoing relationship with MGI Auckland.
Finding the one
When Brent and Laurinda, who both had experience in the New Zealand fashion industry, decided it was time to create their own signature brand of women’s fashion, they also wanted to find “a knowledgeable, trustworthy chartered accountancy firm” to help them with their business decisions.
Thankfully, another MGI Auckland client referred Brent and Laurinda, and, since then, the relationship has continued to thrive. MGI works closely with Loobie’s Story on a regular basis, providing business and taxation advice as well as compliance services.
When Loobie’s expanded into the Australian market, MGI Auckland connected Brent and Laurinda with the MGI Melbourne team to make sure their Australian compliance requirements were met. As a result, Loobie’s expansion went smoothly.
